Blacktop Mojo – Under the Sun
I was turned on to Blacktop Mojo a couple years ago, and I was excited to get my hands on their latest Under the Sun. Especially, after having the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Matt a year or so ago here in Tampa, a class act by the way. The band put on a great show that night. I hope to catch these guys in the near future.
A lot of fans might know Blacktop Mojo because of their Aerosmith’s Dream On cover going viral a few times, with over 13 million views how could you not have heard it.. Regardless of how you know this band they have their own unique sound. They have also shared the stage with some of the biggest acts in the business.
Under the Sun has 10 songs and clocks in around 43 minutes of listening pleasure.
I honestly can’t name one bad song on this record. Under the Sun showcases how much this band has grown over the years. I have spent a lot time blasting this album on repeat over the last couple weeks (I am sure the neighbors love me), and every time it gets more enjoyable. This album has everything – blues, hard rock, grunge, and I might even say some mellow.
While tracks like Lay It On Me, All Mine Now, and The Lashing (Ghost) are great, I have found myself turning the volume to 11 on It Won’t Last. I absolutely fucking love it. That song just gives me the fucking feels and hits you right in the cockles of your heart.
I believe this is the album that will take Blacktop Mojo to a whole new level in their career. It is a definite must have in the collection.
